From 15th to 17th of April 2026, Rīgas cirks was hosting the 3rd edition of the International Conference of Circus Education. This time, with an even bigger ambition, by being connected with the FEDEC network Spring talks.
This year, the motto of the conference was Roots & Routes - Pathways in Circus Education, where already existing paths were introduced and new ones developed during the conference days. With closed meetings to discuss the future of professional education development in Latvia, open workshops for artists and facilitators, mentoring workshops, keynote speeches and round table discussions - the program of the event was dense and fulfilling.
And importantly, at the end of the event, the Latvian Academy of Culture and Rīgas cirks signed a memorandum of agreement to gradually integrate circus into the highest education for the first time in Latvia.
In parallel to the official part, on the 16th of April, all curious ones could see the already internationally recognised show How a Spiral Works by Art for Rainy Days (LV/LT/UK)
And in the background of the event, you could find traces from more independent corners of the circus ecosystem - juggling zines, grassroots community members and others.
We are very glad that the initiative of this conference, which has also always been supported by BNCN, is continuing and directly impacting the circus education development in the Baltic region!
Thank you greatly for hosting this beautiful event and creating space for diverse discussions and dreaming about our possible circus futures!
