Meet our coordinator - Elvīra Avota!

We are excited to announce that the next Baltic Nordic Circus Network is Elvīra Avota! Join us in welcoming her to this position and this new chapter of BNCN!

Shortly about her:

"Hello, I'm Elvīra, and I have been curious about circus since 2017, when I joined the Rīgas cirks team within a project about collecting stories of Rīgas cirks history. Since then, I have been taking care of the circus archives, helping with the creation of educational circus shows, podcast episodes, festival "Re Rīga!" production and part of the team that created the first contemporary attempt to write about the long, wild and "secret" history of Rīgas cirks. All this inspired me to continue my relationship with circus through a more academic perspective – focusing on the circus paradigm transformation from a semiotic perspective in her MA studies. In short, my relationship with circus could be called "a satellite relationship" – always in contact, always curious, always trying to be near. My other professional experience field is connected with urban development and creative community building. I've seen what it means to work with diverse, international and ambitious people who want to create more than is humanly possible. In this position, I would like to be the support that is needed to reach these ambitions, but at the same time, be the person who will always have some spare time to have a quick coffee for a friendly chat."
