Registration open: Dramatic fields hybrid workshop – deadline 29.08.2021

Baltic Nordic Circus Network (BNCN) partners Cirkus Syd (SWE), Cirko – Center for New Circus (FIN) and Arts Printing House (LTU) are looking for under 30-year-old professional circus artists from the Nordic and Baltic countries to participate in the Dramatic Fields project in 2021-2022. The project explores together with the participants the structures and practices of meaning making in circus, ie. circus dramaturgy.

Dramatic Fields consists of an online kick-off seminar and two workshops that are organised in a hybrid format where the local area participants can participate in person on location and participants from other countries can attend online (but if the global situation gets worse, the workshop will happen entirely online). The participants will be actively involved in forming the content of the workshops based on topics they find important to deal with in relation to contemporary circus dramaturgy. Dramatic Fields workshops are facilitated by Jarkko Lehmus, dramaturg and producer of Cirko – Center for New Circus (FIN).

The main criteria for selection of the participants are age (all participants have to be under 30), gender equality, geographical coverage and professionalism. Ideally we are looking for participants that can commit to all of the project activities, however one day tickets are also available.

Apply to the project by filling in the application form and writing a motivational letter based on the following questions and send it via email as a PDF-file to dramaturgy@cirkussyd.com by 29.8.2021.

  1. What do you think is specific in the aesthetics of contemporary circus in the Nordics and Baltics?

  2. What are the key issues in the society you find important to deal with at the moment?

  3. How are you planning to deal with these issues through your art?

  4. What kind of facilitation would you like to have to further articulate the possible answers to the previous questions?
